Leading Learning

The NOCN Level 2 Certificate in Leading Learning (QCF) with endorsed routes in Literacy, mathematics, Science and ICT has been developed as a qualification suite to promote and reinforce opportunity for all to develop and gain essential skills to underpin life and work. 

The main aim of this qualification is to develop leadership skills in those who will undertake a Learning Leader role within a school or other setting, for example workplace, community, custodial setting, Further Education colleges. In addition the qualification aims to:

• develop the learner’s own understanding in one of the four subject areas and support peers/learners in developing their skills and understanding
• acquire understanding of learning and skills development
• encourage active participation in learning initiatives
• develop transferable skills in leadership and personal learning and thinking skills that can be applied in further learning and/or employment
• promote learning initiatives within the school and other settings
• provide opportunities for learners to work both independently and with others
• support learners progression to further learning
• support the aims of current government requirements for the study of English, mathematics, Science and ICT such as national curriculum programmes of study and Functional Skills

The qualification will provide the opportunity for teaching and learning activities to develop in response to the learner voice and therefore support the promotion of whole school/organisational learning initiatives to raise attainment levels for all learners.

The qualification is supported by, and developed in conjunction with, the Academies Enterprise Trust, a multi-Academy educational sponsor that aims to “provide the opportunity for all young learners to fulfil their real potential, broaden their horizons and become active, prosperous and successful citizens in the world around them”.
