The National Open College Network (NOCN) Level 2 Award and Certificate in Self Employment and Enterprise (QCF) are designed to enable learners to find out about self employment and enterprise as a realistic opportunity for employment, or to generally develop their entrepreneurial skills within a variety of contexts.
The qualifications have been developed in conjunction with the small business standard setting body, the Small Firms Enterprise and Development Initiative (SFEDI), and as such address the identified development needs of people who are setting up or running a small business.
The qualifications cover practical issues involved in setting up and running a business and are intended for those learners who already have a business idea and are about to start a business, or those learners who have already started a small business and who wish to have recognition and accreditation of the practical skills and knowledge they are developing. On completion learners will be able to demonstrate the required knowledge and skills to successful either start up and/or run a small business enterprise.
