These qualifications have been developed by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) in consultation with awarding bodies and providers as part of the teaching qualifications framework (TQF) for the FE sector, which includes the voluntary and community sectors and FE colleges.
From September 2007, all new teachers are required to gain a Licence to Practice at the start of their career.
The NOCN Level 3 or Level 4 Awards in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (QCF) are introductory programmes suitable for all new teachers in the sector and provide the minimum statutory standard for all those entering the teaching profession.
The NOCN Level 3 and Level 4 awards in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (QCF) are designed as a first step for new teachers entering the post-16 teaching/training profession and are available for all teachers, in a full or associate role.
The qualification is a direct progression route into the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS).
The NOCN Level 3 and 4 Certificates in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (QCF) are initial teaching qualifications aimed at those intending to fulfil an associate teacher role.
The qualification is a direct progression route into the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

Information for Learning ProvidersOur leaflets provide an overview of the aims and benefits of these qualifications as well as assessment information. All OCN centres wishing to apply for permission to deliver PTLLS and or CTLLS must be formally inducted into the qualifications and formally approved by their regional OCN. All Regional OCNs wishing to deliver the qualifications will be formally inducted and recognised by OCNYHR on behalf of the Network. All providers must complete the NQ1 and prove that they are already able to meet the SVUK base line criteria as listed on the form. Any Centre which cannot meet the criteria in full will not be permitted to run the qualifications. No Centre can recruit to the courses until formal approval has been received. No Centre can deliver the course until they have been formally approved. All Centres will participate in the national quality assurance model. Please see the forms below for use for verification:
