Celebrating Learner Success at the GM Skills Awards 2026

NOCN Group was proud to support the GM Skills Awards 2026, an event that brought together learners, educators, employers and training providers to celebrate achievement across Greater Manchester's further education and skills sector.

As part of our involvement, we sponsored the 16–19 Learner of the Year Award, a category that recognises young people who demonstrate dedication, strong performance and a clear commitment to their future. Through our work across the skills and education sector, we see first-hand the talent, resilience and ambition of learners, and this award shines a spotlight on individuals at a pivotal stage in their journey.

We were delighted to present the award to Lily Edgar Booth of Oldham College, whose achievements and commitment stood out among a strong field of nominees. Congratulations also go to Hajira Qaiser of Trafford & Stockport College Group, who was named Highly Commended.

NOCN Group's Jeanine Reed, Business Development Manager, also played a key role in this year's programme as a judge, reviewing nominations and helping to recognise the outstanding individuals and organisations making a difference across the region.

Speaking on the awards, Jeanine said:

“The GM Skills Awards was a fantastic celebration of the talent and dedication across Greater Manchester. Having had the opportunity to judge some of the categories, I was impressed by the quality of the nominees and the inspiring stories behind their achievements. It was great to see so many individuals and organisations making such a positive impact through education, skills and employment, and an honour to be part of recognising their success.”

The awards showcased the breadth of talent across the further education and skills community, highlighting the achievements of learners, apprentices, employers and providers who are helping to strengthen opportunities across the region.

Events such as the GM Skills Awards provide an important opportunity to recognise achievement, share success stories and highlight the impact that skills development can have on individuals, employers and communities. They also reinforce the value of collaboration across the sector in supporting learners to reach their full potential.

NOCN Group congratulates all winners, finalists and highly commended individuals recognised at this year's awards and remains committed to supporting excellence in education, skills and workforce development across the UK.
