Celebrating Service at the Royal Garden Party
Posted 8 May 2026
This week, our Chief Executive, Graham Hasting-Evans, was honoured to attend the first Royal Garden Party of the year.
Held at Buckingham Palace, the Royal Garden Party is a much-loved summer tradition that recognises individuals and organisations who make a meaningful contribution to public and community life across the UK.
Set against the iconic backdrop of the Palace gardens, the occasion marked the start of the Royal garden party season. Each summer, the Sovereign traditionally hosts a small number of these events at Buckingham Palace in London, alongside one at Holyroodhouse in Scotland, welcoming guests from a wide range of sectors who share a commitment to service and social impact.
The garden party offered an opportunity to meet and connect with people from across the country who are working to make a difference in their communities. During the event, Graham was delighted to meet Her Majesty The Queen, a special moment within a celebration rooted in recognition and gratitude.
Our thanks go to the Department for Education for the invitation to attend this prestigious occasion. It was a privilege to be part of an event that not only reflects the long-standing traditions of the Royal Household, but also shines a light on the power of public service and partnership. It was an honour to represent our sector at an event that so clearly values the role of education, skills and community service in shaping the country’s future.
