Key tips and reminders: stay ahead this exam season
Posted 16 June 2025
We know exam season can be intense, so as we move through this busy period, here are some hints and tips for learning centers, assessors, and learners.
These practical steps will empower you to deliver exams smoothly and successfully.
Make the most of the Invigilator Handbook
NOCN Group’s Invigilator Handbook is more than a guide – it's your go-to toolkit. Alongside our Invigilation Policy, it’s packed with practical resources, including ‘examination in progress’ posters, ID check logs, and learner reminders. Use these tools to create a compliant and focused exam environment.
Stick to PDFs
Always print exam papers using the provided PDFs. Microsoft Word documents can alter exam content, which may affect the accessibility and validity of the exam. With the right tools and trained staff in place, you can continue to ensure your exam environment is fair, inclusive and compliant.
Date and sign paperwork
Every signature and date matters. Accurate paperwork keeps things moving and avoids delays in results. Keep your audit trails strong; they reflect the integrity of your Centre and your commitment to the regulated qualification process.
Timing is key
To ensure fairness, all learners must have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge. Always adhere strictly to the scheduled exam timings.
Stay smart about AI
AI use is rarely permitted in exams. If you’re unsure, check NOCN Group’s Appropriate Use of AI Policy for guidance. We’ve shared guidance to help Centre’s spot risks and uphold standards. Remember: misuse can lead to voided exams and serious consequences. Stay vigilant, stay compliant.
Keep Your Team Informed
Make sure everyone involved in exam delivery is familiar with current policies and procedures, including invigilation and platform use.
Set Up the Right Environment
Create a quiet, distraction-free space for learners. Use signage and seating plans to support a professional and calm setting.
