NOCN reaccreditation as Leader in Diversity
Posted 31 May 2016
NOCN is up for reaccreditation as a Leader in Diversity. We are rightly proud to already hold the Leader in Diversity award from the National Centre for Diversity (NCFD).
The charity achieved this status in 2014 by embarking upon an in depth process of investigation and assessment to show how well it not only understands but actually delivers on its commitment to diversity, part of which includes extensive Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI resources under the banner: 'Creating Opportunities for All', including an action plan, policy and reports.
Now we are embarking upon the reaccreditation process for the 'Leader in Diversity' Award for the next three years. Integral to this are a number of surveys which have been created by NCFD, designed for different groups of NOCN stakeholders to complete, including customers, staff, trustees and partners. This is an opportunity for people to honestly say how NOCN is delivering on its EDI strategy. These surveys will be sent out to key stakeholders over the next few days, with results to be compiled by mid June.
NOCN MD Graham explains:
"It's all very well for me to say that NOCN is a leader in diversity, but it is the views of all the people which NOCN directly engages with which really matters here. Are we still meeting the standard? Are we providing opportunities for all? That is what this reaccrediation is all about and I welcome the opportunity to once again show our true colours, in all their variety."
NOCN was the first Awarding Organisation (AO) in the UK to receive this award, which shows just how important being good in business is to NOCN. In fact NOCN's ethical position really sets it apart by focussing on the needs of learners who may not be well served by other more commercially-focused providers.
Everyone deserves a chance to succeed in life, we all have the potential to do great things in life, even on a small scale. From improving how well we can read a bedtime story to our children, to achieving a vocational qualification that will land us a new job - there is something for everyone with NOCN.
