We are pleased to announce that NOCN has now developed the NOCN Level 2 End Point Assessment Plasterer v2.2 (610/6338/1) apprenticeship standard and can now start delivering End Point Assessments.

All of the documents associated with this standard are now live and can be found on the epaPRO platform for centres that have a contract on this standard.

The changes that have occurred in this version when compared to the previous include:

• Activity 1(solid) now states ‘a sand and lime render may be applied prior to the assessment taking place to aid in the removal of plaster’
• Activity 1 (solid) has removed the final bullet point: ‘apply setting coat plaster to wall area, and window soffit and all reveals’
• Activity 2 (solid): Tolerances added for Setting coat plaster:
  • Flatness of setting coat plaster, bumps and voids when tested with a 2m straight edge on each flat edge, no great than: Pass, + or – 4mm or Distinction, + or – 2mm
  • Setting coat plaster, visual discrepancies: Pass, no more than 3 or Distinction, no more than 1
  • (Note a visual discrepancy should be measured as a defect greater than 25mm in diameter or length, such as trowel marks, fat marks, gauls, or blemishes).
• Added to questioning during practical assessment: ‘For the solid plastering option only, two of the (6) questions must be related to the differences of applying setting coat plaster to plasterboard and floating coat background that include narrow widths and window reveals’

• S19 not in interview
• S21 no in practical assessment
• S24 now in interview
• S25 now in practical
• S35 now in interview
• S38 removed

Practical assessment with questions:

• S9 and S24 removed from theme: solid plasterer – soli plastering techniques
• S27 removed, S25 added them: fibrous plasterer – fibrous plasterer tools, equipment and materials
• S27 added, S35 removed theme: fibrous plasterer – fibrous plastering techniques

Interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence:

• S19 added, S25 removed them: solid plastering techniques and repair
• S36 added, S38 removed theme: fibrous plasterer – fibrous plastering technique ad repair
