International Skills Test

The International Skills Test has been introduced as an assessment for experienced workers to demonstrate their knowledge and skills against International Standards in their chosen trade.

Designed to test practical competence, underpinning knowledge, and health and safety practices, this assessment covers the full range of criteria within the selected standard.

It covers:

  • Planning work.
  • Working efficiently.
  • Working to recognised industrial standards.
  • Working productively.
  • Working safely.

Course Content


The International Skills Test is designed to assess a candidate’s ability to demonstrate the skill and knowledge required according to International Standards. It includes the following:

  • Demonstrate planning and preparation skills.
  • Apply efficient working practices to achieve high productivity.
  • Adhere to recognised industry standards.
  • Maintain a safe working environment throughout the task.


The skills tests are based around our Experienced Worker Practical Assessments (EWPA) and cover various International Standards, including:

  • Welder
  • Carpenter
  • Plumber
  • Painter
  • Tiler Fixer
  • Scaffolder

Successful learners will receive an International Skills Test Certificate and/or qualification to prove their competence in their trade.

Who is this course designed for?


The International Skills Test is ideal for experienced workers who wish to demonstrate their skills against internationally recognised standards. It is suitable for individuals with a minimum of 5 years of experience in their chosen trade. This test is available for multiple trades and is designed to ensure that candidates are capable of performing tasks at the required level of competence.

Assessment


There are two components to this assessment:

  • Practical Skills Test / Practical Observation
  • Professional Discussion


Both components are completed within a 4-hour timeframe, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s ability to work safely and proficiently.
