Inspiring the next generation through working with STEM

Sharon Street, NOCN’s EPA Technical Lead in Construction has just completed the STEM Ambassador training programme to become a recognised STEM Ambassador.

Sharon has worked in Assessor and Quality Assurance roles across the Construction, Energy and Sustainability sectors for many years. She now plays an integral role in the development of NOCN’s End Point Assessments for Construction standards.

Volunteering as a STEM Ambassador will be an opportunity for Sharon to share her knowledge and inspire the next generation to consider construction as a career path.

Sharon said: “I wanted to get involved with STEM, so I could share my knowledge and experiences, and discuss the varied roles associated with construction to the next generation looking for a future career.”

The STEM Ambassador programme is made up of over 37,000 volunteers across the UK. These volunteers visit schools, colleges and community groups to support learning, showcase the different pathways into industry and act as inspiring role models, encouraging young people to think about their future in STEM.
