Join the NOCN Group Board as Vice Chair

NOCN Group is seeking an experienced and committed individual to join our Board of Trustees as Vice Chair.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within our charitable organisation, supporting our mission while helping to shape our strategic direction and future success.

A Leadership Opportunity to Make a Difference

As Vice Chair, you will work closely with the Chair and fellow Trustees to provide effective governance and strategic oversight across NOCN Group. The role is integral to ensuring that the organisation continues to operate in line with its charitable purpose, values, and long-term objectives.

You will support the Executive Committee in guiding the organisation, contributing to key decisions that will help strengthen NOCN Group and its subsidiaries. Your leadership will help drive positive outcomes that support skills development, education, and economic growth both nationally and internationally.

In addition to your governance responsibilities, you will act as an ambassador for NOCN Group, representing the organisation with external stakeholders and helping to promote its mission and impact.

About the Role

The Vice Chair will:

  • Support the Chair in leading the Board of Trustees.
  • Provide strategic oversight and effective governance across the Group.
  • Work collaboratively with Trustees and the Executive Committee.
  • Help ensure the organisation operates in accordance with its charitable objectives and values.
  • Champion NOCN Group as an ambassador with external partners and stakeholders.

Time Commitment

The Vice Chair position is voluntary and unpaid, although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with NOCN Group's expenses policy.

The Board meets six times each year, with meetings scheduled as follows:

  • Q1 – December
  • Q2 – Late February/Early March
  • Q3 – June
  • Q4 – September

In addition, Trustees attend:

  • An in-person Board Strategy Day each May in central Sheffield.
  • A mid-July meeting to approve the annual Budget and Business Plan.

A comprehensive induction programme will be provided to support the successful candidate in becoming familiar with NOCN Group and the responsibilities of the role.
