New NOCN Online Courses Launching This February to boost jobs and employability
Posted 18 February 2026
As the need for practical and accessible employability support grows across the UK, NOCN Group is strengthening its life skills offering with the launch of four new short online courses this February.
This forms part of our expanding MicroLens range - flexible, bite-size courses designed to help individuals build confidence and essential workplace skills in a manageable timeframe.
This launch also marks the next step in a broader transformation of our employability portfolio, with expanded resources and career-focused learning being released over the coming months.
Why Employability Skills Matter
Young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) remain a priority group nationally - but the conversation in employability has widened significantly. It’s no longer just about supporting young people into “traditional” jobs or training pathways; it’s about equipping them with the broader soft skills, confidence, and real-world capabilities that employers consistently say they need.
Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) have been clear that while technical ability matters, employers across sectors are urgently calling for stronger communication, teamwork, self-management, problem solving, and workplace readiness skills. For many young people who are NEET - especially those from underrepresented, minority, or culturally diverse backgrounds - these soft skills are often the bridge between potential and opportunity.
For the many people looking to enter or return to the workforce, the first steps can often feel the hardest. Creating a CV, completing job applications, preparing for interviews or managing time effectively can be significant barriers - particularly for those who have been out of work, are new to the UK, or are building their digital confidence.
Strengthening employability is also critical for the wider economy. As the UK faces increased demand for skilled workers across key sectors - including construction, infrastructure, logistics, health and social care - helping more people into work supports national productivity and ensures industries can meet future workforce needs.

Flexible Learning with Real-World Impact
Our MicroLens courses are designed to remove barriers to learning, enabling individuals to upskill quickly at their own pace and on their own schedule. Providers can easily integrate these courses into wider employability programmes, supporting learners to re-engage with education, increase their confidence and move closer to work.
As the labour market continues to evolve, these targeted resources help ensure that learners have the practical tools they need to take their next step.
These new MicroLens courses form part of NOCN’s wider work to refresh and expand our employability portfolio. Over the coming months, we will be introducing additional resources focused on financial literacy, personal development and pathways into specific career routes. This ongoing redevelopment ensures that learners, providers and employers have access to high-quality, practical tools that support real progression and reflect the evolving demands of the UK workforce.
