NOCN Group Awarded Employer of the Year

NOCN Group is proudly named ‘Employer of the Year’ at the 2021 Sheffield Business Awards, for its commitment to building a supportive and diverse environment for staff.

Throughout the pandemic, the leading UK skills and education charity has continued to invest in their staff, with over 20% undertaking formal Level 3 to Level 7 qualifications, and created an aspiring manager programme to invest and promote talent from within.

NOCN Group’s heritage is rooted in upskilling and informs their social agenda and their commitment to this can be seen by the career opportunities they offer young people via the Kickstart Scheme. The Kickstart Scheme offers six-month placements for 16- to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit, who are at risk of long-term unemployment. Over 30% of candidates have already been offered a permanent role within a few months of beginning their placements.

The group is committed to staff health and wellbeing. Group employees have access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), provided by Health Assured. This EAP also provides support and resources to employee spouses/partners and dependent children. The EAP has 24-hour helplines on a vast array of topics, access to free counselling services, and a wellbeing portal with a wealth of information and resources to support individuals.

Alongside formal training, the organisation also provides ad-hoc training and support to its workforce. For example, at the time of COVID lockdown the group sourced free financial wellbeing workshops through Capstone Financial for every employee to access, this also came the opportunity for a free 30 minute one-to-one consultation with a financial advisor.
