NOCN Group co-hosting ‘NEET’ roundtable event with Yorkshire Learning Providers

Skills charity NOCN Group is set to co-host a roundtable event in partnership with Yorkshire Learning Providers which will explore opportunities for improving the provision and support available to young people across the region.

The face-to-face session on 31 October 2024 10am – 12pm, will focus on those ‘Not in Education, Employment or Training’ (NEET). It will bring together key players, providers and stakeholders to discuss the issues raised in the Northern Skills Network review into the 16-19 NEET challenges across the North – NSN NEET REPORT.

The report features research into the NEET issues across key cities and towns in the North of England, providing insight into understanding the consequences of not addressing them. It identifies barriers to access and inclusion, policy mismatch between national and local activity, lack of growth and support for new or hyper-local provision, and potential solutions.

Shelley van Kooten, NOCN Group’s Sector Manager for Skills for Life & Work, says:

“At NOCN Group we are driven by our social purpose to offer future-fit skills solutions that enable people, organisations and society to thrive. We are always looking ahead at the key challenges facing the skills landscape and that means having a keen eye on the next generation entering the workforce to ensure they are equipped to meet economic and social demands, and can forge successful career pathways and lives.

“It is therefore concerning to us that many young people are not in education, employment or training and therefore missing out on key life chances, limiting their potential and social mobility. We are keen to be part of the discussion around how we can change this.”
