NOCN Group sponsors Lancashire Colleges competition celebrating technical skills

NOCN Group is proud to sponsor Lancashire Colleges Skills Competition 2025, which more than 400 students from 12 colleges have taken part in over the last two weeks.

The competition celebrates technical skills across a number of areas including NOCN Group’s specialist fields of construction, engineering, health & social care, and digital.

The Skills Competition Programme not only gives colleges and learners the chance to demonstrate their technical capabilities, but also to highlight personal attributes such as teamwork and resilience.

At a time when economic growth and productivity are top of the agenda and investment in skills has been waning, this is a welcome initiative to celebrate talent and raise awareness of career pathways in many of the UK’s leading sectors.

Leonie Thompson, NOCN Group Head of Assessment and Quality Assurance, said:

“The Lancashire Colleges’ Skills Competition is a fantastic platform to celebrate talent across a variety of diverse industries and we congratulate all the winners and other participants. As a skills charity that champions the growth of trades and professions that meet the needs of the future, we hope this initiative inspires other competitions to maximise employability and deliver praise where it is deserved.”

Together, the Lancashire Colleges provide education and training to some 95,000 learners each year across a spectrum of apprenticeships and courses. Their activities are crucial in delivering social mobility and economic growth in the region, playing a key role in meeting local skills needs.
