NOCN Group Welcomes Government Investment to Strengthen the UK Skills Pipeline
Posted 17 December 2025
Yesterday, the government announced a major expansion of colleges and training capacity across the UK.
With £570 million allocated to enhance facilities and create new places for learners, this investment marks a significant step toward strengthening the nation’s skills pipeline and supporting long-term economic growth. The focus on equipping more young people with the practical skills needed for future careers directly aligns with our mission to improve workforce capability and promote social mobility.
The government’s plan to boost construction capacity - aiming to train 60,000 additional workers to support the delivery of 1.5 million homes - is especially welcome at a time when industry demand continues to outpace supply. Initiatives such as the expansion of Technical Excellence Colleges and targeted local investment will help ensure young people can access high-quality vocational opportunities in their communities, contributing to both regional and national renewal.
At NOCN Group, we are committed to working collaboratively with colleges, employers, local authorities and sector bodies to help bring this vision to life. As the landscape of technical education evolves, we will continue to support providers through robust qualification pathways, end-point assessment, and workforce development solutions that ensure learners gain the skills employers truly need.
Graham Hasting-Evans, Chief Executive of NOCN Group, commented:
“This week’s announcement represents a vital investment in the UK’s future workforce. As industries evolve and demand for skilled labour grows, we must ensure every learner - regardless of background - has access to high-quality training and clear routes into rewarding employment. NOCN Group stands ready to support colleges and employers as they scale up delivery and help build the skilled, productive workforce our economy needs.”
