NOCN Group’s new Short Online Course in Carbon Literacy gains CPD accreditation

International education charity NOCN Group, which is now offering bite-size, skills-based Short Online Courses, has gained CPD accreditation for its new ‘Carbon Awareness’ course.

The new 3-hour long Carbon Awareness Short Online Course costs just £15 and is for anyone who wants to up-skill themselves on the impact of climate change and what part they can play in reducing carbon emissions on an individual, community and organisational level to support the transition to a low-carbon economy. It is designed to motivate and empower learners to take meaningful action in their settings and communicate broader environmental goals to others.

The course covers topics from ‘fast fashion’ and food production to waste and energy management, and encourages participants to ‘imagine a greener world’, using their voice to promote the small changes that everyone can make to protect the planet. There is an online quiz at the end of the course with a 70% pass rate.

CPD Accreditation is a trust mark achieved by training providers, course creators, and other educators when their training activity has been assessed and confirmed to meet standards suitable for Continuing Professional Development (CPD); the process through which professionals and individuals enhance their knowledge, skills, and competencies throughout their education, careers and lives.

NOCN Group's Short Online Courses have been created by a leading Awarding and Assessment Organisation in conjunction with industry experts to enable individuals and organisations to gain base-level skills required for the workforce of the future. The easily accessible, user-friendly, fully interactive CPD-accredited e-learning is designed to develop knowledge and competence in specialist subjects.

With a digital certificate on completion, learners aged 14 and over can demonstrate that their skills are up to date in an ever-evolving working environment in just a few hours with instant-access training that can be completed anywhere, any time, at the learners’ own pace.

Nicola Hollands, Sector Manager – Engineering, Manufacturing & Green Skills, NOCN Group, comments:

“There are a lot of myths around climate change and which interventions have the greatest impact. Our new Carbon Awareness course is perfect for anyone who wants to ensure that they have the most up to date information and practical advice. It gives employers the reassurance that their employees are able to take the right steps in the workplace and individuals the tools and confidence to do their bit for the planet at school, College, work and in their personal lives.”

Other CPD-accredited Short Online Courses already being offered by NOCN Group include Asbestos Awareness, Damp & Mold Awareness, and Embedding Sustainability in Education. More courses in NOCN Group’s specialist areas including construction, engineering and green skills are being developed and will be launched soon. They can all be purchased (either in bulk or individually) and completed on the NOCN Hub online HERE.
