Last year, the awards were held for the first time to raise the profile of apprenticeships within the under-served British Asian community following a shocking statistic that British Asians represented 4.1% of the overall apprenticeship uptake in 2015/16.

The purpose of the awards was to address the stigma within British Asian communities around apprenticeships by celebrating the very best apprentices, learning providers and employers across several sectors. The initiative was a great success and got a fantastic response from the sector – watch a video of the event here:

NOCN MD Graham Hasting-Evans said: "As a leading Apprentice Assessment Organisation (AAO) with 'Leader in Diversity' accreditation, NOCN is committed to ensuring that apprenticeships are open to all. The Asian Apprenticeship Awards is a great way to celebrate diversity and create role models in an area where take up is currently low."

This year’s awards ceremony will be held on 2 November 2017 at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
