The Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump (RACHP) Engineering Technician role supports the planning and safe execution of work related to cooling and heat pump systems.
They assist in key activities such as installation, maintenance, servicing, and decommissioning of systems used in industries like food production, healthcare, IT, and manufacturing. Apprentices learn to apply engineering principles—especially thermodynamics and the vapour compression cycle—while developing the skills needed to work independently and collaborate with others.
They are also trained to follow safety and environmental regulations, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy use in line with evolving legislation and technology.
