Following the launch of Greening the UK’s Skills in November 2022, Accelerating towards a Net Zero Skilled Economy outlines further thinking and builds on the recommendations outlined in the report.
Although the UK is making progress in response to the climate crisis, when compared to other countries we are average at best. We are still falling behind countries in Scandinavia, South America and parts of Africa when it comes to renewable energy and defining and training in the skills needed for the Net Zero economy.
The report outlines recommendations for twin-track strategies to tackle the Net Zero skills gap. A short-term skills strategy driven by innovators for immediate implementation and a medium-term strategy driven by national occupation standards.
