Coronavirus update for customers

NOCN Group offers a wide range of services including regulated qualifications, EPA for apprenticeships, Job Cards in construction, Access to HE Diplomas, bespoke accreditation, and educational and skills support training.

As you will be aware the government imposed a third national lockdown from Tuesday 5th January 2021. You will find out more operational detail on the implications for each of these services through the following links:

Update 29th March 2021

On 24th March, Ofqual published the VTQ Contingency Regulatory Framework (VCRF) which allows NOCN to provide centres with awarding arrangements for learners who have had their training and assessment disrupted in 2021. The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations -Painter qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification.

This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations within the construction industry.

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification.

This qualification supports the learner to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge.


The learner will learn key practical skills and knowledge in these mandatory units:
-Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace
-Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
-Conforming to Productive Working Practises in the Workplace
-Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
-Applying Paint Systems by Brush and Roller in the Workplace
-Preparing surfaces for painting/decorating in the workplace


This qualification can be taken as part of an apprenticeship framework, if desired. This qualification sits within the Construction Apprenticeship Framework in England and Wales. For further information about the Construction Apprenticeship Frameworks, please see website: www.afo.sscalliance.org.

This qualification is supported by federation Painting and Decorating Association (PDA).

Description: To achieve this qualification a minimum of 67 credits need to be attained from the Mandatory Group. There is also additional units that can be taken as part of this qualification. These units will be included on the certification, but will not count towards this qualification.
