The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction Plant or Machinery Maintenance qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification. This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work as a Plant Mechanic within the construction industry. You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification. This qualification supports the learner to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge. This qualification can be taken as part of an apprenticeship framework, if desired. This qualification sits within the Construction Apprenticeship Framework in England and Wales. This qualification is supported by federation Construction Plant Association (CPA). The learner will learn key practical skills and knowledge in these mandatory units -Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace -Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace -Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace -Operating Plant or Machinery for Non-operational Activities in the Workplace -Servicing Plant or Machinery in the workplace -Removing and Replacing Plant or Machinery Components to Replace Worn, Damaged or Faulty Parts in the Workplace -Dismantling and Assembling Plant or Machinery Components to Replace Worn, Damaged or Faulty Parts in the Workplace -Diagnosing Faults in Plant or Machinery Systems or Components in the Workplace -Inspecting Plant or Machinery for Operational Serviceability in the Workplace. The learner will also learn key practical skills and knowledge in two of the following optional units: -Installing, Repairing or Modifying Construction Resources by Heating, Welding, Brazing, Soldering and Thermal Cutting in the Workplace -Producing One-off Components to Restore or Maintain the Operational Functions of Plant or Machinery in the Workplace -Installing Plant or Machinery for Operational Activities in the Workplace -Configuring Plant or Machinery for Specific Operational Activities in the Workplace -Handing Over Plant or Machinery to the Control of Others in the Workplace -Carrying Out Specific Tests on Plant or Machinery to Determine Operational Serviceability in the Workplace.
