Coronavirus update for customers

NOCN Group offers a wide range of services including regulated qualifications, EPA for apprenticeships, Job Cards in construction, Access to HE Diplomas, bespoke accreditation, and educational and skills support training.

As you will be aware the government imposed a third national lockdown from Tuesday 5th January 2021. You will find out more operational detail on the implications for each of these services through the following links:

Update 29th March 2021

On 24th March, Ofqual published the VTQ Contingency Regulatory Framework (VCRF) which allows NOCN to provide centres with awarding arrangements for learners who have had their training and assessment disrupted in 2021. The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Steelfixing Occupations qualification has been developed for delivery in a working
environment; this means you need to be employed to study this qualification. It has been designed to develop and
recognise your skills, knowledge and competence so that you can work in Steelfixing within the construction industry or
progress onto further learning.

This qualification supports the Learner to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated
underpinning knowledge. Although part of an apprenticeship, this qualification is available outside of an apprenticeship
where either the learner’s circumstances prevent them undertaking a full apprenticeship or where their prior skills and
knowledge mean they do not require all components of the apprenticeship. In addition, industry will accept the
qualification on its own as entry to a job role.

The learner will learn key practical skills and knowledge in these mandatory units:
-Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
-Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
-Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace

The learner will also learn key practical skills and knowledge in two of the following optional units:
-Cutting and Bending Reinforcement Steel to Shape in the Workplace
-Fixing Steel in Situ in the Workplace
-Prefabricating Reinforcement Steel Sections in the Workplace.

This qualification is supported by federation Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA).

Qualification Structure

Min Credits : 48

Description: To achieve this qualification a minimum of 48 credits need to be attained. This comprises 10 credits from the 3 units in the Mandatory Group, plus a minimum of 38 credits from at least 2 units from the Optional Group.
