IOSH accreditation:
This programme has been accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Eligible enrolled students can access IOSH Student Membership for the duration of their studies and, on successful completion of the Level 3 qualification, plus one year relevant experience, they will meet the academic requirements for Technical (Tech IOSH) membership.

As IOSH is the only organisation in the world that offers Chartered membership to health and safety practitioners, this can help you achieve the highest professional standards and gain international recognition.

Important: Requirement for IOSH Membership

If you intend to use this qualification to apply for IOSH membership, please read the following carefully:
Learners MUST complete two specific optional units to be eligible for IOSH membership.

To meet IOSH’s membership requirements, learners MUST successfully complete:
K/618/3049 Develop Procedures to Safely Control Work Operations
D/618/3050 Investigate and Evaluate Health and Safety Incidents and Complaints at Work

Completing the qualification without these units will not meet IOSH membership criteria.

What centres need to do
Centres must select these optional units at registration for any learner who wishes to progress to IOSH membership.
Centres must inform learners at enrolment that these units are required.

Purpose of the Qualification

This qualification aims to equip learners with the knowledge and understanding to progress into a job role in health and safety. It is generic and, therefore, suitable for those wishing to work in health and safety positions in various sectors.   

The NOCN Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment, meaning the learner must be employed to undertake this qualification.

This qualification enables the learner, to recognise their skills, knowledge and understanding and demonstrate their competence in the workplace when carrying out the role of a Health and Safety Officer.
