Aim
The purpose of this unit is for learners to use appropriate tools and techniques to find information and also to send and receive information using digital communication systems.
The learner will use a variety of sources of information as appropriate for their needs. This could include newspapers, books, text messages, internet, intranets, podcasts. Learners will consider copyright constraints on information and the effect of copyright law e.g. on music downloads or use of other people’s images.
Learners will access, navigate and search for their information to develop their search techniques and ability to assess the fitness for purpose of the information found.
They will also need develop skills to select, use and exchange information appropriately using digital tools including e-mails and real time communication methods such as video calling or instant messaging services.
