Aim
The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with the knowledge to:
• identify, select and install single-lap tiles and slates to manufacturers’ instructions to BS 8000-6: Workmanship on building sites (Code of Practice for slating and tiling of roofs and claddings) and BS 5534-1 Code of Practice for slating and tiling (including shingles).
The knowledge acquired by the learner will enable them to:
• understand how tile gauges, side laps and head laps (fixed and mitred) in relation to the roof pitch can determine the methods and installation processes used to complete a single-lap roof area.
