Aim
The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with the knowledge to:
• identify, select and install regular-sized natural slates in advanced situations to manufacturer’s instructions to:
– BS 8000-6: Workmanship on building sites (Code of Practice for slating and tiling of roofs and claddings)
– BS 5534-1 Code of Practice for slating and tiling (including shingles).
The knowledge acquired by the learner will enable them to understand:
• how slate gauges, side laps and head laps in relation to the roof pitch can determine the methods and installation processes used to complete an advanced detail to a natural slate roof area.
• identify, select and install regular-sized natural slates in advanced situations to manufacturer’s instructions to:
