Aim
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with the skills and knowledge to be able to develop a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding in England and Wales, exploring legislative frameworks, guidance, and duties related to roles within organisations and multi-agency environments, reflecting on different approaches to safeguarding, understanding safeguarding governance frameworks, reviewing and implementing safeguarding cultures, and explaining effective partnership working for referral pathways and inter-agency support.


Assessment guidance and/or requirements
Assessment decisions for skills-based learning outcomes must be made during the learner’s normal work activity.
Skills-based assessment must include direct observation as the main source of evidence and must be carried out over an appropriate period of time.
For Learning Outcome 5, the Learner must have access to local safeguarding partnerships (or equivalent) or be working in an area where they are engaging. This Learning Outcome requires good, local knowledge and will need to be signed off by an expert witness who is able to support the review.
