Aim
This unit is relevant in your work if you are required to negotiate rates for the hire of goods with customers. It is not relevant if you are only expected to agree hire terms that are non-negotiable. Nor does it apply if you are required to refer transactions to other colleagues in situations where negotiation takes place prior to hiring goods. It might be more relevant to those who conduct
negotiations business to business rather than those who deal with commercial enquiries from the public. The unit expects you to prepare for negotiations, to make your objectives clear in negotiation and to conduct negotiations in a manner that enhances the reputation of the company. You are expected to know the extent to which you are permitted to negotiate terms of hire with
customers. Assessment for this unit will be undertaken through naturally occurring work activities; simulation is not acceptable for assessment purposes.
