Aim
This unit is designed to enable the learner to demonstrate they have the skills, knowledge and understanding required to be competent in drilling holes in rock or ground to specification. This includes determining the position of the holes, the orientation of the drilling equipment and the monitoring of the operation during drilling of the holes.


Assessment guidance and/or requirements
Must be assessed in accordance with the MP Futures SSO Assessment Strategy and Awarding Organisation qualification implementation guidance.
This unit is based on NOS Unit MPQMG21 Drill Holes to Drilling Specification covering it in full.
In addition the Drilling Operations Qualification Directive additional content must be followed, evidenced and assessed if delivery is related to:
- Ground Investigation;
- Drilling for Anchors
- Drilling for soil nails, dowels or rock bolts
- Drilling for grout injection
- Water Well
-Geothermal
-Landfill
-Marine
-Dewatering
-Horizontal Directional.
