Aim
The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with the knowledge to:
• identify, select and install background components to manufacturers’ instructions to BS 8000-6: Workmanship on building sites (Code of practice for slating and tiling of roofs and claddings) and BS 5534-1 Code of practice for slating and tiling (including shingles).
The knowledge acquired by the learner will enable them to:
• understand how to set out, cut and form materials to receive slates and tiles, underpinning the principles used on installation
