Coronavirus update for customers

The Learner Will The Learner Can

Be able to use appropriate equipment to check tyre pressure and tread.

  • 1.1. - Use a tyre pressure chart.
  • 1.2. - Use tyre pressure gauge.
  • 1.3. - Use air line and inflator.
  • 1.4. - Use tread gauge.

Be able to check a tyre.

  • 2.1. - Give three examples where a tyre is unsafe.
  • 2.2. - Outline checks to identify common problems on a tyre.
  • 2.3. - Identify action to make the tyre safe.

Be able to maintain tyre pressure.

  • 3.1. - Identify when a tyre should be checked.
  • 3.2. - Identify front and rear tyre pressures of a specified car from a tyre pressure chart.
  • 3.3. - Remove dust caps, store and replace correctly when checking tyre pressures.
  • 3.4. - Use air line and inflator to maintain correct pressure.

Be able to check tread on a tyre.

  • 4.1. - Identify legal tyre tread depth.
  • 4.2. - Check tread depths of all tyres using a tread gauge and record on a checklist.
