Aim
The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with the skills to:
• identify, select and install background components to manufacturers’ instructions to BS 8000-6: Workmanship on building sites (Code of practice for slating and tiling of roofs and claddings) and BS 5534-1 Code of practice for slating and tiling (including shingles).
The skills developed by the learner include:
• preparation of backgrounds, selection of tools, equipment and materials to receive slates and tiles.
