Aim
The purpose of this unit is to ensure that the learner can understand and use basic email tools to send, receive and store messages for straightforward or routine activities.

The aim of the unit is that the learner will be able to use the internet to create and send a simple email. The learner will be able to complete a simple subject field to title the email. Format the text (font, size, colour) and format paragraphs. The email will be completed with appropriate to, and from. The learner will be able to reply, and forward emails appropriately

The learner will be able to use an electronic address book to retrieve contact information and additionally be able to attach a file to emails before sending.

The learner will be able to organise and store emails. Set up folders, open messages and open attachments and delete unwanted emails.

Learners should understand how to stay safe, avoid disclosing personal information and use appropriate language.


Assessment guidance and/or requirements
Any unfamiliar aspects will require support and advice from a tutor/assessor. The tutor/assessor will determine the task, which will be familiar and involve few factors, for example content and structure. The tutor/assessor will select the purpose of the email – such as requesting information.
LO 3 Common problems could include messages from unknown users, connection issues etc.
