Aim
The purpose of this unit is to ensure that the learner can compose, send, receive and respond to straightforward or routine e-mails and attachments using e-mail application tools and techniques.
The learner will be able to use desktop or internet-based applications to confidently create a straightforward or routine e-mail. The learner will be able to complete a simple subject field to title the e-mail; format the text (font, size, colour), format paragraphs, and use spell check appropriately on the e-mail. The e-mail will be completed with appropriate ‘To’, ‘From’ and ‘CC’. The learner will be able to ‘Reply’, ‘Reply All’ and ‘Forward’ e-mails appropriately.
The learner will be able to receive e-mail, organise, store or delete e-mails as appropriate, open messages and open attachments.
The learner will be able to use an electronic address book to store and retrieve contact information and additionally be able to attach a file to the e-mail before sending it.
The learner will be able to set up folders, open messages and open attachments and delete unwanted e-mails.
Learners should understand how to stay safe; avoid disclosing personal information and use appropriate language. E-mail problems could include messages from unknown users, or viruses. Staying safe could include misuse of personal information or images, and using appropriate language.
