Aim
The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with the knowledge to:
• select and install plain tiles to manufacturers’ instructions to comply with: BS 8000-6: Workmanship on building sites (Code of practice for slating and tiling of roofs and claddings) and BS 5534-1 Code of practice for slating and tiling (including shingles).
The knowledge acquired by the learner will enable them to:
• understand how the plain tile gauge, side lap and head lap in relation to the roof pitch can determine the methods and installation processes used to complete a plain tile roof area.
