Introduction

Working in care makes a real difference to someone’s life. Lead Adult Care Workers are front-line staff who help adults with care and support needs, taking appropriate action to support people to maintain independence, dignity and control. By providing leadership, guidance and direction, Lead Adult Care Workers play an important part in improving health and wellbeing. To work in Adult Care, someone will feel passionate about supporting and enabling others to live a more independent and fulfilling life. Lead Adult Care Workers have delegated responsibility in certain circumstances for the standard of care provided and may supervise other care workers. They may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres, a person’s own home or clinical healthcare. This standard also covers Lead Personal Assistants who can work at a senior level for one individual who needs support and care services, often in their own home. This Apprenticeship supports progression, leading to career opportunities such as Lead Practitioner.
