This NOCN EPA will assess the competency of an Mortgage adviser apprentice against the Skills, Knowledge and Behaviors specified in the Standard.

The role of a qualified mortgage adviser is to identify and satisfy customer mortgage requirements and associated protection needs. Meeting with customers, the adviser will give advice on appropriate mortgage products, including life assurance, critical illness, accident, sickness and unemployment, income protection and buildings and contents insurance. This apprenticeship offers a route for a career in the mortgage advice sector or for progression into other Financial Services roles and can attract candidates from various backgrounds with differing skills and experience.
Mortgage advice is provided by a number of different types of businesses; direct to consumer through banks & building societies and via mortgage intermediaries in the form of independent brokers or advisers linked to an Estate Agent or New Homes Developer. By passing the apprenticeship, professional registration is achieved by application to the relevant Professional or Awarding Organisation, such as The Institute of Financial Services or The Chartered Insurance Institute.
Individual employers will set the selection criteria for their apprentices. Employers may want most candidates to have Level 2 English and Maths. Other relevant or prior experience may also be considered as an alternative.
