The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heritage Skills -Wood Occupations qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification.

This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work in Heritage Skills -Wood Occupations within the construction industry.

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification.

This qualification supports the learner to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge.

The learner will learn key practical skills and knowledge in these mandatory units:
-Conserving or Restoring Timber-based Products in the Workplace
-Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
-Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area in the Workplace
-Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace
-Confirming the Occupational Method of Work in the Workplace
-Working on Conservation and Restoration Projects in the Workplace.

The learner will also learn key practical skills and knowledge in two of the following optional units:
-Manufacturing Bespoke Wheelwrighting Products in the Workplace
-Manufacturing Bespoke Bench/Architectural Joinery Products in the Workplace
-Manufacturing Bespoke Shopfitting Products in the Workplace
-Producing Setting Out Details for Bespoke Bench/Architectural Joinery Products in the Workplace
-Producing Setting Out Details for Bespoke Wheelwrighting Products in the Workplace
-Producing Setting Out Details for Bespoke Shopfitting Products in the Workplace
-Conserving or Restoring Heavy Timber Framework in the Workplace
-Setting Out Timber Framework in the Workplace.

This qualification is supported by federation National Heritage Training Group (NHTG).

Qualification Structure

Min Credits : 131

Description: To achieve this qualification a minimum of 131 credits need to be attained. This comprises the 6 mandatory units, plus 2 units from the following 3 optional unit groups. When selecting the 2 optional units, only 1 unit can be taken from Group A, only 1 unit can be taken from Group B, and either none, 1 or 2 units can be taken from Group C.
