The NOCN Level 2 Award in Heritage Conservation and Restoration of Britain’s Canals and Waterways is designed to provide an introduction to the heritage conservation and restoration needs of Britain’s canals and waterways. The Canal and River Trust holds the third largest heritage estate in the UK, which requires maintenance, repair, conservation
and restoration. Without a substantial, well-qualified workforce, this infrastructure will remain at risk.
Learners will gain knowledge of :





  • The historic, social, economic and cultural background to the canals and rivers’networks;


  • The principles of conserving the canals and rivers’ networks;


  • The principles and practice of conserving, restoring, maintaining, repairing and rehabiliting the industrial environment of the canals and rivers’ networks.
